About Me

Mousumi Sircar is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice bridges figurative abstraction and atmospheric landscape. Working primarily in acrylics, her paintings explore the emotional resonance of shared human experience. Drawing on subtle colour transitions and layered brushwork, her work emphasizes suggestion over detail, inviting viewers to complete the narrative through their own memories and associations. She has developed a visual language that shifts between warm, communal compositions and cool, meditative spaces, reflecting an interest in connection, stillness, and the inner life of everyday moments. Her work continues to evolve through ongoing explorations of form, presence, and emotional atmosphere. Mousumi has had no formal training in art. In her journey, she has enjoyed the mentorship of eminent Indian artists like Smt Shobha Broota and Shri Ashok Bhowmick. She has exhibited in solo and group shows in India and abroad.
